You can purchase your tickets 4 ways
- The easiest way to jump the queue is to purchase your tickets online, then make your way to the bus at Stop A (about a 800m flat walk from the cruise ship terminal)
- Purchase from the Tasmanian Travel And Information Center stand at the Mac2 Terminal
- Purchase at the Red Decker tent on Hunter Street opposite the cruise ship terminal
- Or at the departure point at the Tasmanian Travel Centre (Stop A) (Subject to availability)
Please note that if you pre-purchase tickets please be there 30 minutes before the intended departure.
If you have mobility issues that prevent you from getting from the cruise ship terminal to the bus stop please let us know ahead of time by contacting the booking office at (03) 6236 9116.
STEP 2: TIME TO HOP ONBOARD
Upon disembarking from your cruise ship, make your way to the Tasmanian Travel and Information Centre (Stop A) on the corner of Elizabeth and Davey St. It’s a flat, 10-minute walk along Hobart's picturesque waterfront and is 800m away from your cruise ships berth. Please again remember to be there 30 minutes before your preferred departure. Then jump on board and enjoy the sites! We look forward to seeing you then!
STEP 3: TIME TO SIT BACK AND RELAX
Enjoy the Official Sightseeing Tour of Hobart. You will have the choice of 20 different stops to hop off at, and they feature the best sights and attractions in and around Hobart! Hop on and hop off as many times as you like or stay on board and do the whole 90-minute loop. The choice is yours.
A complimentary city sightseeing guidebook is provided onboard.
English commentary will play over the loudspeakers and complimentary headphones are available for French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin and Spanish.
DEPARTURE LOCATION & TIMES
Red Decker buses depart from the Tasmanian Travel and Information Centre in Hobart. On cruise ship days, our entire fleet of 6 iconic red open-top and closed-top double-decker buses can be seen touring the city. Buses normally depart hourly from Stop A (Travel Centre) at 9:00 am, 10:00 am, 11:00 am, 12:00 pm, 1:00 pm, 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm with the last bus arriving back at Stop A (Travel Centre) at 4:30 pm. Additional departures are added on an as-needed basis. Please ask your driver for a copy of the timetable on the day.
Buses will depart every 30 minutes, between 9:00 am – 3:00 pm from the Tasmanian Travel & Information Centre when the following cruise ships are in port:

We recommend boarding at the Tasmanian Travel and Information Centre (corner of Elizabeth and Davey Street). Please listen to your driver’s instructions when boarding. The wheelchair bay is located on the lower deck towards the front of the bus.
What happens if MY SHIP DOES NOT DOCK?
Cruise Ship Guarantee:
A full refund or swap of departure time will be offered if your cruise ship does not dock, or if the tour is missed due to a delayed arrival in port.
To avoid lines at the cruise terminal book online early and head straight to bus stop A at the Travel Centre to start your journey with us.

No, but as ticket availability is restricted per day, we highly recommend pre-purchasing tickets when cruise ships are in port to avoid disappointment or delays.
No sorry, we only accept Australian dollars.
We accept cash payments, and our team can accept payment through most major EFTPOS and credit card providers.
The length of the tour is up to you! Your Red Decker bus tour can be as short as a 90-minute sightseeing tour, or it can be all day (the last tour departs the Tasmanian Travel and Information Centre at 3:00 pm, finishing at 4:30 pm).
Red Decker is a hop-on hop-off service, so you choose which attractions you’d like to hop off and visit and how long you would like to spend there. When you are ready to continue the tour, simply return to the bus stop and catch the next Red Decker Bus.
Yes, there is! The commentary is available in English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin and Spanish. Complimentary earphones are available from your driver for languages other than Englsih, as English plays over the loudspeakers.
To avoid any danger, we kindly ask you to remain seated during the tour and keep with you your personal items (small luggage, strollers etc.) To keep the buses clean and safe, no food or drink other than water is allowed on board.
Animals are not accepted on board, except, for guide dogs, and other assistance animals who need to be positioned on your knees. Please also keep in mind that smoking and vaping are not allowed on board our buses.
You will need to show your ticket to the driver each time you board the bus, so keep it somewhere safe but easily accessible, many travellers like to take photos of their ticket. If you lose wristband you may be required to buy another to continue your tour.
No. Tickets are not transferable.
If you have left something on one of our buses, please advise one of our drivers or other staff members. They will communicate with our other drivers and let you know if it has been found. If the item has not been found, you can share your contact details with them so we can contact you if it is found later in the day.
With the exception of extreme weather conditions that would jeopardise safety, our tours operate in all weather, rain or shine. Refunds due to weather will not be granted unless the service is suspended as a result of weather. If unexpected closures due to special events or extreme weather conditions arise, information will be published on our social media accounts and website.
