About Us

Red Decker is proudly Tasmanian family owned and operated. We have over 20 years of experience providing sightseeing tours and bus charters in and around Hobart. Our Hop-On Hop-Off City Loop Tour is the official sightseeing tour of Hobart and is a popular choice for first-time visitors to Hobart.

Our tour often gives visitors their first impression of Hobart and Tasmania. We are committed to providing the best tourist experience and delivering on what we promise every day of the year. We’re delighted to deliver a key service for Hobart’s transport and tourism infrastructure.

OUR JOURNEY

In 1997 it all began with just one bus – a 1960s Leyland Atlantean closed-top double-decker – and one driver. Red Decker were the first company to operate double-decker bus tours and charters in Tasmania. Our City Loop Tour is the only hop-on hop-off tourist service in Hobart, with 20 bus stops to explore.

In 2013, the fleet expanded to three double decker buses with the introduction of a modern Ankai open-top double decker. This allowed us to offer an accessible service for all abilities. Later in 2016, a second Ankai open-top double decker joined the fleet, along with a new GPS-activated multilingual commentary system. We’ve since grown to a fleet of six double decker buses and a team of about 15 employees.

THE RED DECKER TEAM

The success of Red Decker wouldn’t be possible without our passionate team of experienced and dedicated individuals. Our team members are local ambassadors for our city and are a fantastic source of local knowledge. Ask our friendly staff what to see and do, or where to find that perfect gift whilst visiting Hobart.

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY

We love Tasmania’s raw natural beauty and acknowledge that we all need to do our bit to reduce our impact and conserve the environment for future generations. Red Decker is committed to environmental sustainability and we’ve made significant changes to how we operate. The biggest change has been the introduction of three modern double-decker buses which feature zero emission technology. Their diesel engines are equipped to transform nitrogen oxide exhaust fumes into harmless water vapour and nitrogen.
